heozl got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Book cover for a spy thriller, lots of pop culture, not too photorealistic
Check out heozl's Book cover contest…
What if a video turns up showing you committing a murder you didn't commit? "True Colors" is a thriller about a wounded and down on luck former female spy on a revenge mission. Zara Fox, which of course is not her real name, has a bullet in her heart. Any moment can be her last. So she sets out to find and kill the people responsible for her wounding. Wading through a web of deepfakes, meeting pop stars, tech companies, billionaire kids, self-help gurus and other spies. All that leading her right into the heart of an international consiracy where you cannot trust anyone or anything, especially not what you see. Lots of pop culture and dark humor included.
People who enjoy reading thrillers in international settings with cool but complex characters. And people who like watching Quentin Tarantino movies - even thought "True Colors" is less bloody.
It would be great if the cover can convey they deepfake/true colors idea. Something that looks on the surface like one thing, turns out to be something else. Or something that is distorted. Or something that has more layers. Can also be text only, if it has the above mentioned elements to it. Graphic style artwork/design preferred.
What to avoid
If people are used on the cover, their faces should not be recognizable. If photos are used, they have to be disorted or filtered, should not be too photorealistic.
