A Call to Heaven is a novel. It's commercial women's fiction with a paranormal twist.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I would like a book cover designed, which would be used as both a thumbnail on Amazon as well as a physical book cover.
The central 'prop' of the book is an old-fashioned Victorian yellow telephone with a proper dial and gilt trim around the earpiece and receiver of the handset. This phone ends up having supernatural properties and allows the heroine (a 26 year old beautiful blonde girl) to talk to her recently deceased mother in heaven. I imagine the cover portraying a heaven above the clouds and someone on earth reaching up to touch the hand of someone in heaven....and the yellow phone would somehow be incorporated too. The story isn't just about a girl and her mother. It's about others who have also lost wives/daughters/brothers, who might be able to use to phone to call heaven...
I would like the cover to be classy, arty, bold, attractive and sexy - it needs to appeal to anyone who has loved somebody and wishes more than anything that they could have them back in their lives. And it needs to work and be obvious on a thumbnail as much as a physical cover. This book is classier than my others - you can see the covers on Amazon - and should appeal to a wider audience and look classier too.
