The Shame Game
Beth Moshier is a romance writer and The Shame Game is her first novel. She has an English Literature degree from Grand Valley State University in Michigan. She lives in Denver, Colorado and is working on her next novel. You can find her on Instagram @beth.writes.books or on her website at bethmoshier.com.
Sophia is an insecure artist working in an office at her first job out of college. Despite being a romantic at heart, she has never allowed herself the chance to fall in love. But when she meets Evan, her cautious and careful co-worker, she finds herself in a fairytale romance that brings out her inner confidence. The relationship is jeopardized when Sophia makes a mistake that breaks Evan’s heart. Forced to collaborate on a big project at work, Sophia is still feeling guilty about her mistake and Evan is too hurt and angry to act professional. In order to find their way back to each other, they will both need to stop shaming and start forgiving.
Women in their 20s or 30s in the US who enjoy contemporary romance.
Book cover type
I've gotten a number of submissions with a man and woman in silhouette with their backs to each other, so I'd like to see covers that do not have people on them now. The book takes place at a publishing company in Chicago, so any references to city life or books would be relevant. I'd like the cover to have at least a splash of red to symbolize the shame aspect of the title and I'd like the title to be in two different fonts, with "Shame" in its own font. I will not be doing any all lowercase words, so please capitalize at least the first letter of each word. I want the cover to be illustrated, not photography. I'm drawn to covers that focus on symbols and have attached a few examples of covers I like. I also have a publishing logo I'd like on the spine of the paperback.
What to avoid
Update - I would rather not have people on the newer submissions. Please think of other ways to represent shame, romance, games, heartbreak, etc.
