Sarah Lewis got their new button or icon by running a design contest:
Quick contest! Graphic image for blog header
Check out Sarah Lewis's Button or icon contest…
I'm creating a blog to complement an existing website and need a "header image" to give it some visual interest.
What's your vision?
Tagline: An Insider's View of the Turks & Caicos Islands Desired Color Scheme: See http://www.turksandcaicostourism.com/ Desired Style: Tropical, vacation; see http://www.turksandcaicostourism.com/ Accepted File Formats: Layered Formats (.psd or .tiff); Layered PNG (Fireworks) preferred, but PSD is fine, too The blog design will follow the basic style of this Turks and Caicos Islands site in that it will use the same colors, link styles, fonts, etc. The blog will be called "Island Insights" so that's what should be in the header graphic. The client has requested something that's "fairly simple but will reinforce the island/tropical theme." If I was creating the graphic, I'd probably get a nice image off of iStockphoto (or another stock photo site), crop it nicely, add a little graphic flair, and add the name in a complementary font. We're not looking for anything super-intensive. The blog width will be between 800 and 1000 pixels wide, depending on the winning entry for this contest. Background colors aren't set, but could be blue with the main content on white (as in the main site) or simply white; I'm looking to see what you propose. Because this is a fast contest, I'll provide quick feedback (within 1-2 hours during business hours). I offer helpful feedback for all entrants (check my previous contests to confirm that!).
