Ruben Hanssen got their new logo & brand guide by running a design contest:
Powerful logo & brand for urban design consultancy! Architectural beauty meets nature
Check out Ruben Hanssen's Logo & brand guide contest…
Urban Bright is active in the field of urban planning and urban design. Our mission is to create more beautiful, liveable cities and places friendly for both humans and nature; we strongly believe in the value of classical and traditional architecture and planning as timeless solutions to current problems, because those are corroborated by modern scientific research. We use scientifically proven principles to create beauty and harmony in urban environments. But we also guide ourselves by what 'feels right' - like how people get attracted naturally to historical city centres. We are a consultancy firm, we also aim to create tutorials and online courses, and later we also want to develop property / urban districts. Our clients are separated by product: - urban planning & urban design professionals & students alike (for the online courses) - municipalities and other governmental agencies & public officials (for the development and the consultancy) - in a small amount of cases we also aim at individuals and commercial property developers (development & consultancy)
The logo should be attractive and recognisable for both people online getting attracted to our online courses, but it should also be fitting on the billboard of a construction site (as we aim to be partners for real life building constructions). So a logo that can be taken seriously in various circumstances, We are a creative bunch, we also aim to do a lot of work on social media (YouTube videos, VR experiences, Podcast, etc) We want a logo that unites our activities with the city (urban planning) and beautiful architecture, respect for people and nature, and the mission of making the world a more beautiful place. The look must be youthful, but serious. It must 'stand out', it must radiate 'this is us', without compromise. We aim to change the world! Some things we do want to see: nature, urban 'plans' (urban fabric), classical or traditional buildings (or a mix), a game between the built and the natural. Strong, bold fonts. Right balance between minimalism and detail. Some things we do not want to see: modernist buildings, skyscrapers. Tip: google the works of Léon Krier (like his urban planning designs and his book, the architecture of community), Rob Krier, Christopher Alexander, Nir Buras (the Art of Classic Planning), Berlage (urban designer from the Netherlands early 20th century). 99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
