lily.steele got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Logo design for social impact start up selling clean cookstoves and green fuel in Africa
Check out lily.steele's Logo design contest…
We are a social impact company in Kenya, Africa providing families with clean cookstoves and sustainably sourced "green" eco-friendly cooking fuel. The main cooking fuel in Kenya is charcoal which has contributed to mass deforestation. We source our cooking fuel from a fast growing, abundant tree, which regrows once it has been cut down, making it a great renewable resource. We employ local communities to harvest the wood, giving them an extra income stream. We provide cookstoves for free to families as they would otherwise be too expensive for them. In exchange they purchase our cooking fuel, which is green and ecofriendly, protecting other valuable forested areas in Kenya from being cut down. Our cookstoves improve family health significantly as they burn clean, and do not give off noxious fumes. Most families cook on open stoves (equivalent to smoking 400 cigarettes an hour), so our cookstoves significantly improve health as well. Charcoal has reached unaffordable prices in Kenya, fuelling the black market and driving more deforestation as others exploit the price rises. Our cooking fuel is cheaper than charcoal and other cooking fuels contributing to huge customer cost savings.
Main colours of competitors (Inyenyeri.com, burnstoves.com, mimimoto.nl, smartcook.co.ke) are orange and blue. This does suit the brand, however, I would like to see some other suggestions that would work in addition to orange/blue. Incorporating a flame could be a good option (like Burn Stoves), however, I don't want to see anything too similar to competitors. We are interested in seeing ideas that are not flame based also. Important part of the business is that we use sustainably grown wood chips as the fuel, and the company has a strong environmental and social focus. Target market is in Kenya. We are looking for bold, modern designs that make use of striking colours. The colours selected will end up being used throughout our marketing materials so it is important they feel distinct and ownable.
