lloydi got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Logo for web accessibility site
Check out lloydi's Logo design contest…
I'm giving a site a much needed facelift, but am struggling with ideas about the logo. Until that's done I'm not sure how I'll approach the design as a whole, so I'm after some inspiring design on the logo that will set the theme for the whole site.
What's your vision?
I am looking for a logo design for a long-running web accessibility site. The address of the current site is:http://www.accessify.com/ When I did the logo that is currently there, I purposely avoided using themes that are always associated with disabled people, e.g. man in wheelchair, and I want the same to be true here. I opted for a tick in the design to signify that things were checked, properly done, so to speak.I am about to redesign, re-architect and basically completely re-work the web site but recognise that icon design is not necessarily my strong point. So I'm looking for a design that is fresh and modern, avoids the aforementioned clichés, takes up a small amount of space in the page header – similar dimensions to existing would be good, but I'm open to ideas. The logo is not going to be used on any paper, so no stationery to consider. Because I have not started the design of the site, the logo design is fairly open. The design of the logo may drive the look of the rest of the site. However, note that 'garish' is not on the cards – the web site is about accessibility, so anything that goes against those ideals is not good. Hence it must have good contrast, be easily readable, not be useless to colour blind people. I may change the site's colour scheme slightly, but it will still remain dark text on a light background. I would like the logo to be used in a smaller square version – for use on forums as avatars etc. As an example, compare the existing Accessify logo with the avatar version that is used on SitePoint's forum:http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/member.php?u=15254 Just one portion of the existing logo is used for this (the tick park), so that kind of flexibility in a new logo would be good. Finally, the phrase 'verb: to make accessible' is not critical. That could be dropped, but equally I'd like to see if the logo could have a variant that does include it. But I'm not precious about that part. Hopefully this is enough info to go on, so I look forward to some good entries
- A positive, vibrant feel - Must be noticeably different from existing logo - Readable text!
- Text with a gradient fill and a fat stroke around the lettering. I could do that myself ;-) - Web 2.0 style 'logo sitting on a super shiny surface' reflection. Again, I could do that myself ... but I won't - Symbols that are disability clichés - Overdesigned text that requires deciphering

Mogeek is the absolute best designer that I have ever worked with. I am a very difficult and demanding client and expect only the very best. He exceeded my expectations in every way. By the time we were done, I felt guilty not paying him more. If you have the good fortune of being accepted as a client by this designer, you should run, not walk, as fast as you can toward his work!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
