jp-i got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Yacht Logo Required
Check out jp-i's Logo design contest…
A very simple logo required for a Yacht Rental Agency. The Logo should be clean and Web 2.0. It is for a new website which will be launched in 3 months.
What's your vision?
Desired Color Scheme: Dark Blue Logo on White Background Desired Style: Classic/Timeless/Inovative Accepted File Formats: Standard Web Formats (.jpg, .gif or .png); Vector Formats (.eps, .pdf or .ai); Layered Formats (.psd or .tiff) New Website requires a Clean, Fresh and Minimalistic Logo. The Site is all about renting yachts around the world. Currently we have the following ideas: 1] All the Boats that we offer (Sail, Power, Catamarans etc..) have 1 think in common. The front part of the Boat where it cuts through the water is a "V-Shape" - __v__ we are looking for a "V-Shaped" logo that applies to a wide selection of boats, power, sail, dinghies etc... Here is an example: http://www.interyachtcharter.com/LOGOS/logo-8.jpg Though it's unfinished and needs work. Here is an example of an actual yacht head on: http://www.interyachtcharter.com/Yacht%20Portfolio/Athens/Bavaria-50-292.htm This is the type of concept that we are trying to acheive though for a spectrum of yachts. We look forward to your ideas. Please note our clients are 35-70 yrs old, Middle Class, Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants etc.. The Logo needs to appeal to them, so something Corporate and a Little Edgy and Innovative.

And then… they selected a winner!
Both the work and communication were incredible. We couldn't be happier to have a new design and to have worked with someone who listened to our requests, was excited to work with us, and delivered a product we feel good about.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
