kderars got their new merchandise by running a design contest:
Design a fashion logo for centerpiece product - Poka poka cap!
Check out kderars's Merchandise contest…
Poka Poka Concept: I am launching a new brand, called Poka poka. The first product will be an embroidered baseball cap with a Poka poka logo, priced at $30-35 USD. The brand itself will be positioned somewhere close to Massimo Dutti on a pricing level (or a tiny bit below), halfway between Zara and Ed Hardy. I am a Russian Instagrammer and blogger, who espouses urban exploration. I try to find the best spots in cities across Asia to take outfit shots – and plan on increasingly working in my own products. Russian style strongly defines my identity, but there is a touch of Chinese / Asian influence and American rebelliousness in there as well. Poka poka represents the idea of urban fashion – the modern, young woman who works in a big city and is striving to make a name for herself. It should have a touch of femininity, but not in a cute or girly way. It should also show irreverence and character. Simply put: ‘something Rihanna would wear’. Target audience is 20-30 year old women, working in white collar jobs with busy lifestyles. They strive to always be elegant, but with always a small touch of rebelliousness somewhere – a dash of red or purple where it shouldn’t be, a zest of sexy in a business outfit… These women like fashion and follow Instagram idols for inspiration. They plan vacations to be able to share incredible photos, rather than relax alone.
What's your vision?
Task: Create a logo for the number one product in the line (a baseball cap) which should read “Poka poka”. In a second phase, this logo will serve as the basis through which to launch variations and other Poka poka products, with slight alterations depending on the item (tote bag, t-shirt, other items of clothing) Guidelines: Capitalization is optional – could be poka poka, Poka Poka, Poka poka or even POKA POKA – whichever looks best. Designed to be embroidered – so cannot have frayed or transparent edges. Should come in one color as will likely be declined in multiple variations e.g. white on black, bordeaux on pink. If you can work in a touch of Russian influence, awesome! But the following are no-goes that will be disqualified: stereotypically Russian/USSR/Communist fonts. Replacing ‘O’ with ‘ф’ or A with an inverted ‘V’ Anything that gives a subtle hint of female rebelliousness and/or urban lifestyle is a plus :)
Based on the first few designs, a few comments: 1. A touch of rebelliousness, femininity (not in a cute way) and/or Russian influence is a plus :) 2. Again, no blocky letters. If it's big fat letters, it's not feminine. Another good option is handwritten, unique fonts - could be cursive, could be just script. Right now I feel the feminine quality is completely lost. 3. Don't limit yourself to only letters. Any additional elements, drawings, visuals you can tie into it is a big plus. Please, again, DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING: - stereotypically Russian/USSR/Communist fonts. - Replacing ‘O’ with ‘ф’ or A with an inverted ‘V’
