The Biplane Air Racing Class is the organizing body for biplane aircraft to race on a pylon course at the National Championship Air Races. Air racing dates back to 1909 and biplanes were the first type of aircraft to race on a closed course. The National Championship Air Races began in Reno in 1964 and biplanes were one of three type aircraft to race there from the start.
Biplane racing has a deep history and the Biplane Air Racing Class was recently reorganized to continue the sanctioning and organization of this rich form of motorsport. The class needs a new logo. The logo should capture the history and feel of its roots at the beginning of the century but reflect the continued relevance and energy that the class has to this day. Even as faster aircraft are developed in other classes, biplanes have a distinct appeal to aviators with an appreciation for their timeless form.
